Chamonix is known for its challenging pistes, so it’s not surprising that it’s been chosen as a venue for the extreme Swatch Freeride Tour, to be held in the French resort later this month.
The tour will begin in Chamonix, just 20 minutes from Geneva airport using our Courchevel helicopter transfer service, on January 26th when dozens of the best skiers and snowboarders in the world will descend on the resort to take part in the contest.
The Swatch Freeride Tour is an exhilarating series of events which pushes the boundaries in the freeride world of skiing and snowboarding. It is held in six world class venues across Europe, North America and Canada – with Courchevel staging the third event in the series – a perfect time to book your Courchevel helicopter transfer.
Other resorts to have been chosen to host this popular event are Revelstoke Mountain Resort in Canada, Courmayeur Mont-Blanc in Italy, Kirkwood in California, Pillerseetal in Austria and Verbier, in Switzerland.
The first event of this year’s Swatch Freeride Tour got off to a dubious start when bad weather hampered the first day of the
competition in Revelstoke Mountain Resort. However, the blizzards finally stopped and the event started with a vengeance on Friday January 11th, to the delight of the scores of spectators who had turned up in the resort to watch some of the world’s most experienced skiers and snowboarders taking to the slopes.
The next event is due to take place in Courmayeur Mont-Blanc – not far from Chamonix and easily accessible from all major international airports when using our Chamonix Helicopter Company. The event will take place in Courmayeur on January 19th.
The following weekend the event will then move to Chamonix, one of France’s premier resorts and one which is hugely popular with our clients who regularly use our Chamonix Helicopter Company to reach the slopes in record time.
