In
recent weeks the skies over Courchevel have come to life at night with the resort hosting the 10th annual International Fireworks Festival. Each year since 2003 Courchevel has hosted 4 invited international teams to produce some of the most spectacular pyrotechnic displays on the planet.
This year teams from Poland, Italy, Slovakia and Austria each held a display, with each of the four villages which make up the Courchevel ski area. Visitors to the resort have been treated to a spectacular finale to their holiday with displays taking place on Friday evenings. The only views to top these shows are reserved for those travelling by a Courchevel helicopter transfer.
Over 8000 spectators gather for each display and are well looked after with the Courchevel Tourism Service on hand to provide free mulled wine to warm their hands while they watch.
While the weather has turned a little milder in recent weeks, now is still a great time to visit resort with snow levels at nearly 2 metres on the upper mountains to enjoy on these longer sunnier days. The resort is still receiving top ups of fresh snow and great spring skiing conditions can be expected right until the close of the season.
